Invermay Addition

It started with an existing suburban house with a ground floor lean-to that extended like a finger into the back yard.  The lean-to housed a laundry and a bathroom.  We were commissioned to design a new master bedroom and ensuite, alter the circulation in the house, and improve the living area’s relationship to the backyard.

Our intervention put the new master bedroom and ensuite on the first floor above the existing wet areas.  The existing laundry was deemed not fit for purpose and demolished, the existing bathroom was retained as is and built over.  The area outside the ground floor bathroom was widened to allow for a new rear entrance into the house and a staircase.
We believe the project is intervention-lite, and experience-rich!

Clare was wonderful to work with. She took our raggedy ideas and half-articulated desires and came back with elegant solutions and exciting possibilities. We love our house now: it’s gorgeous, light-filled, and functional. It is better and more beautiful than we had been able to imagine on our own.  - Client
